SV_02 Ring path of Foresta Deiva

from the widening nearby the confectionery factory follow the dirt road. Pass the gate to enter in the Foresta demaniale Deiva. Cross the bridge over the Rio (stream) del Giovo and reach the Casa del Custode (352 m). from here the dirt road rises up by wide bends among the trees. Ignore on the right a track to Lago dei Gulli. After c. 1 Km you reach a pass and you follow to the left the short road to the Castello Bellavista (478 m; 20-30 minutes from the starting point). Past the castle on the left reach an other fork: ignore the level path on the left (you follow it in the opposite direction to come back to the castle in the way back) and go up to the right (signs: Loc. Giumenta and Ca’ d’Erro). The dirt road rises among scattered pines. (on the left it is possible to see the wide north-west slope of Monte Beigua) and after turns right and crosses the northern slope of Monte della Rama. Past a small stream reach a fork: follow to the left and go up as far as a pass. Ignore the track to Casa Giumenta e Case Lombrisa and continue to the left with a dirt road along the western slopes of Bric Riondo e del Bric della Rama as far as the next crossroads. Ignore the track on the right for Cà d'Erro and continue along the wooded north-west slope of Cima di Deiva. Further the dirt road is a track in a scattered wood with rocky outcrops between pines and hairy oaks. After two hairpins turns reach Passo Salmaceto (650 m; 1.40-2 from Castello Bellavista). Here the dirt road turns left and gently goes down along the eastern slope (it's possible to see the Béigua range again). After wide bends pass some small valleys and you have nice views on the hollow of Sassello. After 3,5 Km arrive at the fork nearby Castello Bellavista and from here follow the outward way to come back (1.30-1.45 from Passo Salmaceto).
