Mellichstöckdooch

Every year on the 1st Saturday in May, the dandelion, which is called Mellichstock in the local dialect, is honoured in a special way in Lauscha. While the plant is considered a weed in other places, the people of Lauscha have long recognised its healing properties. On its day of honour, the Lauscha Tourist Association is therefore organising a festival in the town centre from 11 am to 5 pm, where everything revolves around the Mellichstock.
With musical accompaniment, there will be culinary delights made with dandelion ingredients, of course. Traders offer goods in keeping with the theme of the day and there is also plenty on offer for children. Mellichstöck lovers will also find special treats on the menus of the surrounding restaurants. The festival is rounded off with a number of guided walks from various directions to the festival site.
