Gastronomy and heritage along the Vie (4 days/4 nights)

DAY 1: SAINT GILLES CROIX DE VIE – AIZENAY / 46 km
In Saint Gilles Croix de Vie, explore the marinas and fishing ports, visit the fish auction and Escale pêche to discover the famous local sardine, then taste it at the food truck Le Banc des Sardines. Follow the dunes of Jaunay and the marshes of Givrand towards Saint Révérend, where you can visit the Moulin des Gourmands and taste buckwheat biscuits. Continue towards Lac du Gué Gorand to appreciate the wildlife and flora, then follow the cycle path to Aizenay.

DAY 2: AIZENAY – LES LUCS SUR BOULOGNE / 30 km
Follow the Aizenay forest, rich in fauna and flora, before turning to the rolling landscapes of the bocage between Vie and Boulogne. At Poiré-sur-Vie, discover the picturesque Moulin à Elise in the town center. Feeling peckish? Enjoy the restaurants, caterers, or picnic areas to taste local products: mogettes beans, poultry, lamb, honey. Continue through hedges, pastures, streams and hamlets, then cross Beaufou and its listed church before diving into Vendée history at Les Lucs-sur-Boulogne.

DAY 3: LES LUCS SUR BOULOGNE – APREMONT / 40 km
Head towards Saint-Etienne-du-Bois. Reach the source of the Petite Boulogne at La Tulévrière and visit the chapel built during the Terror. Nearby, discover the local blacksmith. Follow the Petite Boulogne and its hills to Domaine des Îles at St-Etienne-du-Bois for a tasting. At Palluau, picnic facing the castle ruins, then explore the lake of Apremont to observe mallards and egrets. At Maché, take a gourmand break at the biscuit factory. Finish in Apremont, discover its Renaissance Castle and enjoy the lake.

DAY 4: APREMONT – SAINT GILLES CROIX DE VIE / 33 km
Return to Coëx and lake Gué Gorand to complete the loop back to Saint Gilles Croix de Vie. Explore the seaside town by visiting L’Atelier de la Sardine. Then don't miss a detour to the heart of the salt marshes of Saint Hilaire de Riez to perfect your gourmet experience with a touch of salt added to these holidays!
