Amorbach, founded by Benedictine monks in the 8th century, is today a small romantic baroque town with many unique sights. These include the former abbey church with its famous baroque organ, the convent building with splendid Green Hall and precious library, the Amorsbrunn Chapel, the rococo parish church of St. Gangolf, the Seegarten and the Templerhaus, one of the oldest preserved half-timbered houses. On the spur between Amorbach and Weilbach you can see the Gotthard ruins high above, which was also a former nunnery.
From Amorbach market square we ride east along Schneeberger Street (follow bike path signs). At the cemetery, the bike path to Schneeberg (3 Countries Bike Route) begins, which initially runs along the B 47. Through the meadow valley you reach Schulstraße, then turn right into Marktstraße. The side road gently climbs steadily through Morretal, initially to Zittenfelden, then to Hettigenbeuern, which already belongs to Baden-Württemberg. There we turn right onto a forest road whose long, steep incline leads us to Steinbach. In the small Mudau district, a short detour to the noteworthy St. Martin's Chapel is worthwhile. On the district road we ride with only a moderate ascent to Mudau, where the highest point of the route is reached at 450 m above sea level. On the new Main-Neckar bike path, the entire return route now goes steadily downhill to Amorbach. We cycle to Üngert, cross the connecting road to Preunschen after a while and reach the hiking parking lot below Wildenburg. It is worthwhile to leave the bike here for a short break and walk approx. 1 km uphill to Wildenburg (follow Nibelungensteig). After visiting the ruin of the noble lords of Dürrn, we ride back through the Mud valley via Buch and the Pullvermühle to Amorbach. Via the Schlossplatz we pass the former Amorbach abbey with the well-known princely abbey church and return to the old town.
Between Zittenfelden and Hettigenbeuern about 800 m of gravel, condition unknown between Mudau and northern Wildenburg parking, about 2 km of gravel between Buch and Amorbach.
