Experience the characteristic landscapes of the Northern Black Forest over a short distance. Initially through the dark high-stem forest, then descending steeply past the waterfall down to the Sankenbachsee. And then up again to the nordic-appearing lonely heights of the Kienberg. Finally through lovely meadows to Baiersbronn.
From the Längenhardt bridge up to the B28 (yellow diamond), cross this and follow the signposts "Kirchenweg" and "Oberes Rotwasser" to the signpost "Prof.-Endris-Weg". There turn left, follow the blue diamond for 300 meters and then descend on a narrow path (yellow diamond) to the waterfall hut above the Sankenbach waterfalls. Descend along the waterfalls on a challenging path (Seensteig) to the Sankenbachsee.
Circle this on the southern side. At the signpost "Sankenbachsee" turn left over the dam (yellow diamond) and straight ahead to a forest road. Keep diagonally left uphill, follow the hiking trail (yellow diamond) to the signpost "Kienberg" (detour to the Kienberghütte possible, see author tip).
There turn right and continue with a view into the Murgtal along the Kienberg (yellow diamond). Pass the Jörgleshütte and then descend on a narrow path to the adventure trail "Holzweg". At the Heuberg parking lot, go straight ahead steeply down the grassy path (yellow diamond) and at the signpost "Heuberg" turn right to follow the nicely located grassy path to Bergergrundschanze (yellow diamond). Continue through the forest to the signpost "Hoferköpfle" and descend on the hiking trail (yellow diamond) into the village to Rosenplatz.
From Rosenplatz it is about 500 meters to Baiersbronn station.
For a trekking tour in the Black Forest, you usually don't need extensive expedition equipment. However, you should be well prepared and have the essentials with you. Therefore, we have compiled a few equipment tips.
Hiking maps
The Black Forest has an extensive and very well signposted network of trails. Our tour suggestions mainly lead along narrow paths that do not always connect the camps directly. We therefore recommend carrying a suitable hiking map showing additional sights, roads, and other important points. You can find a selection of suitable hiking maps in our Nature Park shop.
GPS
With the booking confirmation, you will receive a detailed route description to the respective camp. Additionally, GPS coordinates (UTM WGS 84) are provided for each site. For safety reasons, we recommend a GPS device. Especially in the summer months, with dense shrubbery, it can sometimes be more difficult to find the camp immediately.
Booking confirmation
When you book, you will receive an invoice, the general terms and conditions, and the booking confirmation by email. The booking confirmation also includes the directions for the last mile and the access code for the toilet cabin. The booking confirmation must be shown on request to the caretaker of the respective site and to employees of the forestry administration.
Water
There is no water connection at the camps! The surrounding streams also do not provide drinking water or are often dried up in the summer months. So take enough water with you and always replenish your supply on the way. Better a few liters too many! Also remember water for cooking and washing. 4-5 liters per person per day should be taken along!
Other items
The following should also not be missing in your backpack:
Clothing: rain jacket, sweater, and sturdy footwear Sleeping: tent, sleeping mat, sleeping bag Washing: toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, towel, … Supplies: water canister, thermos flask, cutlery, pocket knife, pot, … Health: first aid kit, personal medication, sunscreen, insect repellent, … Toilet paper Garbage bags Mobile phone Identity card If necessary: camping stove, can opener, tealight, rope, string, flashlight, …The trekking camps are located away from towns and can only be reached on foot. In the vicinity, you usually find nothing except wild nature. To ensure that nothing goes wrong on this adventure and the trekking tour becomes a safe enjoyment, the most important safety rules should be observed.
Forest fire hazard
The main cause of forest fires is careless, negligent behavior in the forest. We therefore ask you to make fires only at the designated fire places and to observe the instructions in the user regulations. Empty glass bottles should not be thrown away, as they can also start fires. Current information on forest fire hazard can be found at www.dwd.de/waldbrand.
In case of emergency, immediately alert the fire department: emergency number 112
Severe weather
Entering the forest involves risks. Falling branches and slippery forest ground are not uncommon. Particularly during severe weather, there is a danger of life-threatening injuries.
Use of the natural campsites is at your own risk. No liability is accepted for possible damages, especially caused by falling branches or trees in the forest. Every user must specifically inform themselves about severe weather warnings.
We recommend not using the natural campsites during severe weather warnings!
Current situations and forecasts can be found at http://www.unwetterzentrale.de/uwz/badenwuerttembergindex.html.
In case of emergency
So that rescue services from mountain rescue, fire brigade, or Red Cross can quickly find you in an emergency, an information board is placed inside the toilet cabin at each camp, indicating the nearest rescue point. Stay calm in an emergency, provide first aid, and call 112!
Provide the following information:
Where did it happen? (Name of the camp and the nearest rescue point) What happened? (Type and severity of the injury) How many injured are there? Who is reporting? (Give name and your own mobile number) Wait for further questions! If something happens to you on the way, it is important to know that all signposts, together with the elevation, have a location name that can be given as a rescue point when making an emergency call. An online tool from the Digital Trail Management of the Black Forest Association enables dispatch centers to locate the emergency site in difficult terrain where street navigation no longer helps. https://www.schwarzwaldverein.de/schwarzwald/wanderwege/wegweiser-sind-rettungspunkte
