Visit to the Husen castle ruins - The ruins of the castle prominently tower over Hausach. Visitors can enjoy a magnificent view over the Kinzig and Einbach valleys as well as the Brandenkopf opposite. Around 1220, the castle was built under the Zähringen dynasty to protect the surrounding silver mines. Its first documented mention as "castrum husen" dates back to 1246. In the 14th century, the property passed to the Fürstenberg family as a wedding gift. Between 1453 and 1477, it was extensively renovated by Count Heinrich VI of Fürstenberg. However, the Thirty Years' War did not pass Hausach without damage: Weimar troops destroyed the castle. It was not rebuilt. Between 1985 and 1989, the municipality restored the still visible remains, including the bergfried, parts of the palace wall, and the battery tower.
