The pilgrimage route begins at the Museum Haus Dix in Hemmenhofen, the former home of Otto Dix, one of the most important artists of the 20th century, who lived and worked on the Lower Lake from 1936 until his death in 1969. Under the direction of the Stuttgart Art Museum, the house is accessible to the public. After visiting the museum (with media guide approx. 2 hours), the 10 km hike starts via the Panorama Trail to Wangen and further to Kattenhorn. There you can visit the Petrus Church, famous for its Dix windows. The large windows, which depict stories of the Apostle Peter, are one of Otto Dix’s greatest works. Afterwards, it’s another half hour on the Lake Constance bike path to the ferry landing at Öhningen. At 5:40 pm, the ship of the Lower Lake and Rhine Shipping Company departs and takes you back to Hemmenhofen. Right next to the Hemmenhofen ferry dock is Hotel Höri on Lake Constance, where you can enjoy a 3-course pilgrim's menu to finish.

Hiking distance approx. 10 km
Recommended start around 11 a.m. / 12 p.m. (allow time for the visit, audio guide in the museum takes approx. 2 h!)
After visiting the museum, the 10 km hike begins: At the museum parking exit, turn left onto Otto-Dix-Weg; at the end, go up the Walter-Kaesbach-Weg to the left past Sonnenhof. Follow the path to the end at the forest edge. At the top, turn left onto the Panorama Trail, which passes above Wangen by the Jewish cemetery. The turnoff to the cemetery is not signposted; the Panorama Trail leads into a hollow path. On the left, at a sharp angle, a driveway leads into the orchards. At the same level, on the right, also at a sharp angle, a path leads to the Jewish cemetery, located above the turnoff. Following the same path, you return to the hollow path, which you follow downhill to the former Wangen farmhouses. On the right, proceed through Oberdorf until you reach the street "Zum Schienerberg". Cross it uphill and then turn into Aspenweg, towards Bruderhof/Aspenhof. After a steeper stretch, you reach the Aspenkreuz, where you turn left. In front of the farm, there is a very narrow path turning left downhill to the district road. Cross it and on the right you reach the Petrus Church Kattenhorn, which can be visited from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Then go downhill to the Lake Constance bike path. A detour left to the Blasius Chapel in the old castle tower (Schlossstr.) is worthwhile; the combination of modern art and historic chapel space is impressive. From here, hike another half hour on the Lake Constance bike path to the ferry dock at Öhningen (next to Oberstaad Castle). At 5:40 p.m., the ferry departs and brings you back to Hemmenhofen. If you miss the ferry, you can reach the Höribus (runs every half hour afternoon) from the village of Öhningen back to Hemmenhofen. Right next to the Hemmenhofen ferry dock is Hotel Höri on Lake Constance, the end point of the hike and host of your pilgrim meal.
