Here, time seems to stand still! The peace in the snow-covered forests around Herbstwasen is everywhere and lets you forget everyday life. On snowshoes, you hike through the idyllic landscape with great views over the open Rench valley and the mountain ranges of the Black Forest.
This snowshoe route is very varied with views over the open Rench valley and the mountain ranges of the Black Forest. Moderate ascents and descents make this snowshoe route in Bad Peterstal-Griesbach an experience for everyone. If you don’t own snowshoes, you can easily rent them including poles and gaiters at the Bad Peterstal tourist information. Strap on your snowshoes and start hiking. After the tour through the snowy winter landscape, you can enjoy a cozy stop at the Höhengasthaus Herbstwasen and warm up from the cool winter air. A true winter delight!
The start and finish is at the driveway to the Herbstwasen guesthouse. There you turn left into the access road to Weiherplatz - in winter a beautiful winter/snowshoe hiking path (No car access possible!). The route leads with a gentle ascent to Weiherplatz, then follows a steep ascent that leads to Laubweg. You follow this until the junction where, further ahead, you turn right onto Maierslochweg. It then takes you back to the starting point via Weiherplatz.
At the Kur and Tourism GmbH Bad Peterstal-Griesbach you have the option to rent snowshoes including poles for a small fee.
Be sure to observe local weather warnings and avoid entering the forest if there is a risk of snow breakage.
The Bundesstraße 28 provides quick access to both the Rheintal motorway (A5) and the Bodensee motorway (A81).
How to reach the start point in Bad Peterstal-Griesbach:
Motorway A5, exit Appenweier, B28 via Oberkirch and Oppenau to Bad Peterstal-Griesbach, end of Bad Griesbach village, turn left between Hotel "Adlerbad" and Hotel "Kimmig" onto Wilde Rench, approx. 3 km straight towards Herbstwasen guesthouse, Motorway A81, exit Horb, B28 via Freudenstadt to Bad Peterstal-Griesbach, beginning of Bad Griesbach village, turn right between Hotel "Adlerbad" and Hotel "Kimmig" onto Wilde Rench, approx. 3 km straight towards Herbstwasen guesthouse,From Offenburg (ICE and IC stop) or Appenweier you can reach Bad Peterstal-Griesbach by Ortenau S-Bahn.

On arrival by train, a walk of about 60 minutes is required.
