Ulrika Route 3rd Stage Pilgrimage Church Steinhausen - Sießen Monastery

The path briefly follows the Upper Swabian Way of St. James, then soon after the French grave turns west and now follows the forest edge to the watershed of the Schussen and Riß rivers.

After crossing the European watershed, the path goes for a short distance along the road to a viewpoint with a magnificent Alpine panorama above the town of Kleinwinnaden. The modern chapel below, “Maria on the Mountain,” invites a short detour. Further along, the path is identical to a geo-trail that draws attention with various information boards to the geological special features of the area. Shortly thereafter, the path leads down to the Schussen spring (natural monument). Benches above the spring invite you to rest. It then continues up to three “water guardians” sculptures symbolizing “Faith – Love – Hope.” Alternatively, you can also follow the geo-trail along the Schussen river for a short stretch from the spring, which rejoins the official path after about 150 m. The further way passes through Renhardsweiler and leads to Steinbronnen. Here, a beautifully designed Lourdes grotto invites to linger and pray. Another stop is Lampertsweiler with a beautiful chapel in the town center and the Dreher Experience Farm, where you can buy provisions in the farm shop if needed. Over Haid and Bogenweiler, the stage destination Sießen Monastery is soon reached.
