In summer there is a variety of herbs and flowers to discover. A foray through the herb year
During the long summer days and the power of the sun, our wild plants enrich themselves with essential oils and other valuable ingredients - and want to be collected.
May: now a herb hike is the most beautiful, everywhere smells and flowers. We find the wild garlic, the garlic mustard, the common vine and the dandelion - the plants of the month of May.
June: at the time of the summer solstice, we keep an eye out for the valuable midsummer herbs St. John's wort, mugwort and yarrow. The elder is now blooming too - a time for all the senses.
July: We use the midsummer month to collect valuable herbs and to preserve them in various ways, e.g. B. meadowsweet, ribwort, willowherb and meadow rennet.
August: summer has reached its peak. Herbs are consecrated on August 15, when a traditional herb bush is tied. For this we collect different herbs.
September: now nature shows us again what it can do - the "berry season" begins. Wild berries in the most beautiful colors shine towards us from the hedges at the edge of the forest. Blackberries, barberries, elderberries and sloes can be used to prepare all kinds of delicacies.
