The unique charm of a Renaissance city in the heart of the Alps, where history means art

Trento (Trento) is a city rich in history and art, where Italian and Central European culture meet. The city of the Council (1545 - 1563) preserves in its monuments its entire artistic and historical heritage, which has been shaped by both cultures over the centuries.

Among the most important monuments are the Castello del Buonconsiglio (which was the residence of the Prince-Bishops of Trento for centuries), the Duomo with its wonderful piazza and the Fountain of Neptune, the frescoed houses and the churches of the Council, as well as the museums and exhibitions that make Trento an interesting cultural centre.

From the Castello del Buonconsiglio, the "imperial" promenade leads through the old town to Piazza Duomo. Along Via San Marco, Via Manci and Via Belenzani, the city's most magnificent palazzi can be admired. From here, a dense network of streets, alleys and squares leads off, where you can discover other buildings. The arcades of the Via Suffragio, the ancient towers and the city walls are characteristic.

At any time of the year, Trento delights its visitors with its rich artistic and historical heritage. Enjoy it while strolling through the old town, shopping or visiting the city museums (the Museum of the Castello del Buonconsiglio, the MART - Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art - in the Palazzo delle Albere, the Natural Science Museum and the Caproni Aviation Museum).

In 2004, the city of Trento was awarded the title of "Alpine Town of the Year". It has one of the most prestigious universities in Italy and is the venue for important cultural events, such as the "Festival of Business", which attracts scientists and experts from all over the world every year.
