From the top of Vuokatinvaara, next to the parking lot, it is good to start the conquest of Pieni Pölly by snowshoes. There is no officially marked route; everyone can choose their own path. In winter, the area is busy, creating a network of tramped paths. You can use these or make your own route.
The recommendation is to head first towards Pieni Pölly, where a tall TV and radio mast shines. The same mast also serves well as a landmark when moving in the terrain. After the parking lot, there are small hills and depressions, and before the summit of Pieni Pölly, a somewhat steeper slope.
The southern slope of the fell is very steep, so it is not advisable to go there!
From Pieni Pölly, you can descend on the eastern slope down to Pöllylampi and head towards the hut. Note that the eastern slope is also rather steep. From the lamp hut, a path leads back to the parking lot.

The fell has very steep cliffs. Do not go too close to the edge!
There are fallen trees under the snow on the fell. Be careful not to slip and slide on them!
Do not go with snowshoes into the ski slope, or move right at the edge of the slope.
If you use a mobile map in the terrain during winter, remember to charge your battery before leaving and bring a power bank with you.

There is no public transport to Vuokatinvaara.
