In order to be able to ski down the mountains, we make Oberhof ready for the slopes. That's why the 800-metre-long Fallbachlift ski slope is partly covered with artificial snow in winter, so that every day can be an experience.
The chairlift then takes you comfortably back to the top and takes you over the LOTTO Thüringen EISARENA Oberhof.
Want to learn to ski or snowboard? No problem. There are several ski and snowboard schools in Oberhof where you can learn under the professional guidance of trained instructors. The courses are aimed at beginners and advanced skiers and are also ideal for children. Our winter learning area offers ideal terrain for your first meters of skiing, especially as you can save energy thanks to the conveyor belt and don't have to walk uphill.

This year, there will be a ski shuttle that will shuttle between the Fallbachhang mountain station and the various parking lots in Oberhof at weekends and during the Thuringian public holidays (with a few exceptions). In addition, the bus route 423 also runs between Oberhof and the Grenzadler during the winter months. So you are always just a short ride away from your accommodation.
Oberhof is located on the ridge of the Thuringian Forest, directly on the Rennsteig high-altitude hiking trail. This provides cross-country skiers with ideal conditions to enjoy the winter on narrow boards. The cross-country ski trails and ski hiking trails are groomed together so that extensive tours are possible throughout the Rennsteig region. This is one of the traditions of Oberhof and the entire vacation region.
Seven Olympic winter sports disciplines (cross-country skiing, biathlon, Nordic combined, special ski jumping, luge, skeleton and bobsleigh) are trained in Oberhof.
This season starts with the Biathlon World Cup on 1.1. - 7.1.24, a few weeks later the Cross-Country World Cup takes place from 19.1. - 21.1.24. Another highlight will be the Special Olympics from 29.1 - 2.2.24 in Oberhof, where athletes will compete against each other in 10 different sports. The big winter sports competitions will conclude on the weekends of 10.2. - 11.2. and 17.2. - 18.2.24 with the Luge World Cup events.
Training takes place in Oberhof all year round. This also characterizes the atmosphere of the town.
The LOTTO Thüringen Skisport HALLE ensures constant cross-country skiing conditions at -4°C 365 days a year. It also invites leisure sports enthusiasts to enjoy the winter feeling.
In the H2Oberhof Wellness & Adventure Pool, you can warm up again after the cold. You can either let off steam in the adventure pool, on the various slides or in the children's area or find absolute relaxation in the whirlpools, the varied sauna area or in the wellness area with a massage or Babor cosmetic treatment.
